Until a fortnight ago, I was an ebay virgin. I knew of the site, of course - who doesn't, with the amount of pop-up ads it has with other sites? - but I'd never been so much as tempted to go beyond a quick glance at the home page. It all seemed rather complicated - signing up, browsing, bidding, checking back, ways of paying etc. Then I started collecting DVDs and a friend told me to get myself registered with ebay and start bidding, as there were some serious bargains to be had. Now, two weeks later, I have a pile of movies awaiting my perusal, and a serious ebay addiction.

I have only recently joined e-bay auctions (about a month ago), but already am pleased with the service and both the items I have purchased and the sellers I have purchased them from.

Items up for auction are organised into categories, making it easy to find the type of thing that you are looking for. Another handy point about e-bay is the e-mail service, which lets you know if an item you are watching is ending soon, or if you have been outbid or have won an auction. So far I have won about 8 auctions. Payment methods are determined by the seller, so vary, but I have paid all of my sellers by postal order so far, which seems to be a widely accepted method of payment, as do personal cheques. Some sellers take credit cards, but not all.
